Positioning for Brands Whose Customers Are Experts

When selling to mechanics, fabricators, off-roaders, or outdoor enthusiasts, you are marketing to people who often know more about technical specifications than typical copywriters do. Fluffy, buzzword-heavy ad copy will alienate them instantly.

Rules for Expert-Level Copywriting:

  • Speak the Vernacular: Use accurate terminology. Say "CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum" instead of "premium high-quality metal."

  • Respect Their Knowledge: Don't over-explain basic concepts. Focus on why your specific engineering choice yields better results on the field or trail.

  • Address the Trade-offs: Experts know every product design involves trade-offs (e.g., weight vs. strength). Being honest about who your product is—and isn't—for builds unbreakable trust.

If your ad copy reads like it was written by an operator who actually uses the gear, conversion rates take care of themselves.
